If you are fathering again under new circumstances, you are in good company. Famous company, in fact.
The Recycled Dad Index provides a snapshot of the ‘recycledness’ and ‘virility’ of some well-known dads (and some little-known dads, too).
A dad’s recycledness score represents the biggest age gap (in years) between two of his (consecutive) children. (If he is a typical recycled dad, this is the gap between the youngest child of his first marriage and the first child of his second marriage. In theory, the wider that gap, the more opportunity there has been for him to get ‘rusty’ on how to raise a child from the beginning. I admit that ‘recycledness’ is not really the best term for this attribute. ‘Rustiness’ is actually closer to the mark. Any other ideas?)
A dad’s virility score is simply the age he was when his youngest child was born.
